Fresh styling inside and out; quiet, comfortable cabin; standard features; available hybrid power
For 2013, Lincoln has completely redesigned the MKZ. The new car boasts a sleek, 4-door "coupe" look, with split front grille reminiscent of Lincoln's pre-war Zephyr and a band of LED taillights that spans the width of the car. Up top is a panoramic glass roof, and under the hood, buyers will have the choice of three engines: a turbocharged 240-hp 2.0L EcoBoost 4-cylinder; a 300-hp 3.7L V6; or, in the MKZ Hybrid, a 2.0L 4-cylinder paired with an electric motor good for 188 hp. The Hybrid should deliver an EPA-estimated 47 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway. Inside, the cabin is loaded with premium leather and wood trim, as well as a 10-inch LCD instrument panel rather than traditional gauges. An 8-inch touchscreen display with touch-sensitive climate controls occupies the revised center stack. Finally, the 2013 MKZ boasts plenty of standard and optional high-tech safety features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, parking assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert, collision mitigation braking and airbags placed within the rear seatbelts.
