The Rise of the Electric Vehicles

There has been much debate over the years about whether people should purchase an electric car or stay with a regular one. When it comes to driving the vehicle, many often assume that electric cars are slower than traditional cars with bulky gas engines, that they don’t look very appealing and then there's also the issue about recharging the battery on a long drive. This may be due to the first few electric or hybrid cars which were introduced such as the Chevy Volt, Toyota Prius or the Honda Pilot. However, recent electric cars not only look nicer than the older models, but also go much faster and Tesla has resolved the issue of recharging your battery on long drives. When the Tesla Model S was released, it was the first electric vehicle which was faster than most cars on the road. To this day, the Model S is still one of the fastest production sedans available on the market. With a 0-60 time of right around 3 seconds in “ludicrous” mode, it beats sports cars such as the Porsche 911 and BMW M3. There are very few cars on the road that can keep up with the Tesla Model S, and besides producing incredible speed, the car looks great. For those that enjoy driving sports cars, the Tesla Roadster is a great option. It still gets almost 250 miles per charge, and dashes from 0-60 in 4 seconds. As for the issue of recharging the car battery, Tesla has began installing supercharging stations all across the globe. Tesla has already built over 500 new charging stations, and over 2,800 superchargers which comes out to about 5 chargers per station. This allows drivers to go from city to city without having to worry about where they will charge their car. The superchargers are also very efficient, charging the vehicle in minutes instead of hours. Equipped with hotspots, the charging stations are becoming very convenient for those that like to drive their Teslas on road trips. This year, Tesla plans to add more supercharging stations around the United States and the rest of the world, to make sure that drivers of their vehicles don’t have any problems commuting from one place to another. With sleek new designs which makes their cars look beautiful, a fast 0-60 time, convenient charging options, and now an affordable price with the new Model 3, Tesla is leading the way in practical electric vehicles.
