The Acura ILX mid-size sedan is perfect for commuters and small families, as well as for couples who are looking for something comfortable and practical. This year, the car company gave the vehicle model a few changes ranging from a new grille, which gives the car a sportier appearance, to the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
With the ILX, Acura is offering a base model as well as three additional packages. Each option comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 201 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. The base model is well-equipped with features like 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, a push-button start, LED headlights and taillights, and a power sunroof. Acura even equipped the vehicle with heated front seats, an eight-way power adjusting driver’s seat, and heated mirrors. Standard safety features include forward collision alert, lane keeping assist, and road departure mitigation. A rear camera with several different viewing options also comes standard.
Buyers who upgrade to the Premium package will gain safety features like blind-spot monitoring and a rear cross-traffic alert system in addition to leather upholstery. This package also comes with amenities like a second screen on the infotainment system and an auto-dimming rear view mirror.
For the technology package, Acura is including navigation with real-time traffic alert, a premium 10-speaker stereo, and AcuraLink services integration. The car maker also has an A-Spec package available. This one is mainly appearance based. Those who get it will be driving around in an ILX that has unique trim and exclusive interior colors. It also has faux-suede seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, and tires that are just a bit wider.
On the road, the ILX gets 24 miles per gallon when transporting people around town and 34 miles per gallon on the highway. The vehicle’s engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that provides power to the ILX’s front wheels. The ILX feels secure on the road, receiving a five star rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.
It features a suspension that smooths out any bumps that drivers may encounter, and the transmission shifts easily and quickly. In fact, the 2019 ILX feels quite sporty to drive. With 12.4 cubic feet of space, the sedan also has plenty of storage space.
